It was no ordinary day when a humpback whale stranded in the Baltic Sea – a sea that is not its home. For 38 days it was stuck. Alone. Lost. Far away from the Atlantic, where it belongs.

The authorities? They hesitated. They waited. They did – nothing at first.

But then there were two people who couldn't look away. Who didn't give up. Who fought for him – day after day, against bureaucracy and indifference. They gave him a name: Hope. And lovingly, they also called him Timmy.

Their efforts moved mountains. The authorities relented. Help was finally allowed. And today – Timmy is on a floating barge on his way back to his Atlantic. Back home.
